Ms. Olimatou Danso is the Director of Legal Affairs and Board Secretary at Gambia Maritime Administration. She is a barrister and solicitor of the supreme court of The Gambia. MS. Danso obtained her LLB Degree at the University of The Gambia, a BL at the Law School of The Gambia and LLM at International Maritime Law at IMLI in Malta.
She worked at Judiciary of The Gambia as Clerk up to the position of Assistant Registrar from 2006 to 2010. She moved to the Ministry of Justice in 2010 after obtaining her LLB as a Public Prosecutor, then a State Counsel and later promoted as Senior State Counsel in 2016.
MS. Danso did most of her practice in criminal litigation and was the Assistant to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) at Ministry of Justice. She assisted the DPP with 2015 State House Treason trial, Court Martial trial of Gamcoy13, in 2013/14.
In 2017, she served as the Chairperson of the Criminal Detention Review Committee at MOJ, which led to the release and reinstatement of many civil servants that were illegally dismissed and prosecuted by the then regime. In 2017, she worked as Assistant to Lead Counsel) at the Janneh Commission of Inquiry into the Financial Activities of former President Yahya Jammeh, Family and Associates.
